CS Student Named to the College of Engineering & Physical Sciences Society of Excellence

School of Computer Science student Nick Beirne has been named to the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences Society of Excellence. Membership in the Society of Excellence is granted to graduating students who have demonstrated excellent academic achievement and have made outstanding contributions to the University of Guelph community and beyond throughout their university careers. Nick just completed his Bachelor of Computing degree in Computer Science (Co-op) with an Area of Application in Sociology. During the course of his undergraduate studies, Nick has:

  • Achieved the 4th highest GPA of graduating students in Computer Science
  • Awarded the University of Guelph's Entrance Scholarship
  • Awarded the Dean’s Honours List
  • Elected President of the Society of Computing and Information Science
  • Organized all Orientation Week events for the Society of Computing and Information Science
  • Volunteered for Roboticon, a computer science outreach event
  • Organized the School's participation at Canadian University Software Engineering Conference, an annual conference for undergraduate students
  • Assisted in the running of Guelph Coding Community that develop workshops and presentations for students interested in computer science, entrepreneurship and technology

Nick's commitment to the School of Computer Science and the University of Guelph is inspiring and we are beyond grateful for his ongoing dedication.
