Yesterday the School of Computer Science celebrated the beginning of a new semester with the SoCS Annual BBQ.

To welcome the new undergraduates, existing students, staff, and faculty flocked to Johnston Green to enjoy the great weather and some great food. The new SoCS t-shirts were also distributed to first year students. Designed by recent graduate and entrepreneur Ben Douek, the shirts were a big hit.

The BBQ also saw seven people take on the ice bucket challenge that was issued late last week. Drs. Deb Stacey and Judi McCuaig led the charge, followed by Dr. Greg Klotz, Dr. Bill Gardner, Dr. Dan Gillis, and our outreach officer (and BBQ organizer) Lauren Zweep. SOCIS president Ryan Wilson-Perkin rounded out the event - getting doused by several people at once.

Thanks to all who donated to the ice bucket challenge. Money raised will be donated to the new Guelph chapter of Soup Sisters & Broth Brothers to support the purchase of a freezer for Guelph Wellington Women In Crisis.
