The students, staff, and faculty of the School of Computer Science would like to welcome one of our newest members, Kate McRoberts. Kate officially took on the role of our Co-operative Education Coordinator on September 19th, 2016.

Kate’s role as Co-op Coordinator involves developing employer relationships to support and expand engagement with Co-operative Education and the University of Guelph, specifically within School of Computer Science. Her primary responsibilities include supporting co-op students on job search strategies, employability skills (professional and transferable) and career development. She ensures sufficient job quantity, diversity and experience levels are available for co-op students. She supports and collaborates with School of Computer Science faculty and staff to provide the best experiential learning experiences possible for our students.

Kate previously worked in the Department of Management, Co-operative Education at the University of Toronto Scarborough campus. In her role she straddled the employer development and career advising teams. She understands the Co-operative Education and Career Services operations, the university environment and the ebb and flow of co-operative education. Prior to that, she worked in the San Francisco area in human resources, specifically contingent workforce management, partnering with several biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Kate received her Honours Bachelor of Commerce, Information Technology Management from Ryerson University.

Kate is from Wisconsin and as such, she loves good cheese. She is a die-hard Green Bay Packer fan, with a bullmastiff named Lambeau to prove it! We are thrilled to welcome Kate to the University of Guelph!
