While renovations on the third floor of the University Centre continue, the office of Registrarial Services and the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies are collaborating to continue providing in-person service to students.
In addition to providing online, phone, and email supports, the offices will staff a pop-up desk on the first floor of the UC.
Plans are well under way to start welcoming students, faculty and staff back to our campuses and facilities. As we put those plans into action, we’ll continue to follow the guidance of Public Health and directives from the province. We’ll be proactive and put the safety of our community first.
Following an extensive and highly competitive search, Dr. Charlotte Yates has been appointed as the ninth president and vice-chancellor of the University of Guelph. She is the first woman to hold the position in the University’s history.
The Guelph Gryphons Athletic Centre opened to all users on August 3rd. Users enter through the Larry Pearson entrance and are no longer required to pre-book times (except for lane swim). More information can be found on their website.
Congratulations to Nathan Doner (Mullen Lab) who was awarded the Canadian Society of Plant Biologists (CSPB) President's Award for his presentation entitled "Identifying new lipid droplet proteins in Arabidopsis thaliana: ERD7 localizes to lipid droplets via its senescence domain" at the CSPB Virtual Meeting that was held in June. Great job Nathan!
This annual award, now in its 3rd year, recognizes particularly outstanding research contributions from our graduate researchers published during the preceding calendar year. There is one award for each department which comes with a $500 prize. This year's winning papers and authors are:
As Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health moves into the next phase of it's vaccination program, U of G's on-campus COVID-19 vaccination clinic will wrap up Aug 6th. Since opening in March, the clinic has vaccinated more than 81,000 individuals.
