2011 marked the 50th Anniversary of the Simcoe Research Station. Located adjacent to the town of Simcoe, 86.6 hectares of land borders the highly productive Norfolk sand plain in the central Erie region. Its mission is to help strengthen the fruit and vegetable industries in the potentially highly productive zone along the north shore of Lake Erie.

Research areas and outcomes

The ratio of research input at the Ontario Crops Research Station - Simcoe (Simcoe Research Station) is 70 per cent vegetables and 30 per cent fruit, reflecting the approximate distribution of the horticultural production in the Lake Erie Counties.
