Three U of G researchers receive awards for animal health and welfare

Dr. Charlotte Winder, Assistant Professor in the Ontario Veterinary College's (OVC) Department of Population Medicine, has been named the recipient of the 2023 Metacam® 20 Bovine Welfare Award for her unwavering commitment to cattle health and welfare, and for her significant contributions to improving the well-being of dairy cattle.

Dr. David Renaud, professor in the Department of Population Medicine at Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) has been recognized with a University of Guelph Research Excellence Award for his work on improving the wellbeing and welfare of calves.

Dr. David Kelton, professor emeritus in the Department of Population Medicine at the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) has been recognized with Lactanet’s 2023 Dairy Cattle Industry Distinction Award during the Dairy Cattle Improvement Industry Forum in Quebec City on September 19. Dr. Kelton is a highly decorated and respected scientist whose involvement in research initiatives addressing animal health and management issues in the dairy cattle industry has been key to Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC)’s proAction program.
