Ontario Agricultural College researchers are creating a more environmentally sustainable agriculture and food system

Alilance-funded research on low-methane dairy cow selection is profiled in this story from U of G's Ontario Agricultural College (OAC). Read about work led by Dr. Christine Baes, done in part at the Ontario Dairy Research Centre, to reduce the emissions that are contributing 14 per cent of human-derived greenhouse gas emissions globally.

It's part of a four-year, $16-million project is being funded by Genome Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities, provincial genome centres and industry partners. Research for the original burp-breeding tool was funded by various organizations, including the Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance, a collaboration between the Government of Ontario and U of G. The Ontario Dairy Research Centre is owned by the Agricultural Research Institute of Ontario.
