The first meeting of the Board of Governors for the 2018-19 year was held October 16, 2018 at the University of Guelph Arboretum, chaired by Board Chair Kevin Golding.

The meeting began with a territorial acknowledgement offered by the Board Chair. The President offered oral remarks and a welcome to the Board of Governors.

As per the Board’s standard practice, the Chair of each standing committee of the Board provided an update on recent activities of their respective committees, bringing forward items for information or approval, as appropriate.

The first Senate meeting of the 2018-19 session was held on October 2, 2018 and was chaired by President Franco Vaccarino.

Chair of the Board of Graduate Studies, Andrew Papadopoulos, commenced the meeting with a territorial land acknowledgment.  Immediately following, University Secretary Gen Gauthier-Chalifour provided a brief orientation for new and returning Senators.

The next Senate meeting will be held on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 5:30 pm in the OVC Lifetime Learning Centre, room 1714.

The Senate Honours and Awards Committee invites nominations for honorary degrees, to be awarded at Convocation ceremonies in 2019

An honorary degree is the highest honour bestowed within the power of the University, and as such is a reflection of the University of Guelph’s highest aspirations, mission, and values, and in particular where those values are reflected by individuals whose extraordinary achievements result in “changing lives and improving life”.

The Senate Honours and Awards Committee invites nominations for honorary degrees, to be awarded at Convocation ceremonies in 2019.

The fifth Senate meeting of the 2017-18 session was held on May 28, 2018, and was chaired by President and Vice-Chancellor, Franco Vaccarino.
