News related to Ontario Beef Research Centre

Cattle are not the only ones enjoying the benefits of the Ontario Beef Research Centre’s greener pastures. That’s because the renewed and expanded 121-hectare perennial pastures just outside Elora provide more than a bovine buffet—their unique design makes them living laboratories, enabling research that aims to help beef producers lower the cost of production, safeguard the environment and increase profitability.

Tune in to Tuesday, February 2 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. to learn about the recently opened Ontario Beef Research Centre located in Elora, Ont. With construction completed in Sept. 2019, this station is now open and can facilitate the latest and most innovative beef-related research during all stages of production.

Participants will hear from Prof. Katie Wood, Animal Biosciences and Matt Bowman, Research Committee Chair, Beef Farmers of Ontario.

A huge $15.5-million facelift is underway at the Elora Research Station, with the construction of a new cow-calf research centre, a facility owned by the Agricultural Research Institute of Ontario and managed by the University of Guelph under the OMAFRA-U of G Agreement. A separate project will repurpose 200 acres of land to create pasture at the station and almost double the capacity for livestock on site.
