DH@Guelph Goes Global
This year DH@Guelph is partnering with Global DH to coordinate with DH researchers, teachers, and practitioners from around the world. As part of the lead up to our summer workshops, we are excited to host a one day, multilingual symposium featuring presentations on a range of topics relevant to Global DH.

The Global DH symposium invites work at the intersections of critical DH that engages with anti-colonial and post-colonial frameworks, supports feminist and anti-racist praxis, and crosses political and disciplinary borders. We define the term “humanities” expansively to create space for a range of issues that encourage interdisciplinary understandings of the field.
We welcome presentations in English, French, and Spanish and will offer translation across languages.
We welcome presentations on topics relevant to Global DH, and we particularly welcome specific practical, creative, and theoretical examples from the Global Majority context, including:
- Multilingualism and language justice in DH
- Indigenous led DH work and community engaged collaborations in DH
- Globally situated human-AI collaboration and critique in DH
- DH approaches to the study of the environment and considerations of environmental justice in DH infrastructure and practice
As part of the in-person symposium hosted at Guelph, we accept presentations in the following formats:
- 15-minute presentations
- 7-minute lightning talks
- 60-minute panels
- Poster presentations
If you have questions about the format of the presentation, the structure of the symposium, or this year's theme, please consult the Global DH call for proposals, or contact DH@Guelph.
Travel Funding Support
Presenters accepted for the in-person Symposium are eligible to apply for travel funds up to $400 USD. There are four awards each for travel to the in-person Symposium at MSU and the in-person Symposium at the University of Guelph. Receipts will be required for reimbursement. For the in-person Symposium at MSU, travel funding recipients will also receive up to 2 nights accommodation in Owen Hall, a dormitory residence hall on the MSU campus.
Priority will be given to those traveling internationally to attend the event, to students and scholars without adequate funding otherwise, and those who did not receive Symposium travel funding to present at the 2025 or 2026 Symposium.
These competitive travel funds are awarded on the basis of need. The application for receiving funds will open upon acceptance to the Symposium in mid January 2027. The application form will ask presenters about their anticipated travel itinerary and expenses.
