Susan Dobson

Susan Dobson is the area coordinator for photography. She is best known for her work on suburban culture, architecture, and landscape. She has exhibited her photographs and installations in solo and group exhibitions across Canada, as well as in the United States, United Kingdom, Belgium, China, Germany, Spain and Mexico. Her work has been featured in a number of photography festivals, such as CONTACT (Toronto), Fotoseptiembre (Mexico City), Le Mois de la Photo (Montreal), Bitume/Bitumen (Brussels) and FotoNoviembre (Canary Islands).  

She was a contributing artist to the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad, where her work was presented on billboards as part of the exhibition Endlessly Traversed Landscapes.  She previously taught at Ryerson University.

 She is the recipient of many grants and awards, most recently from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada for her project The Pictured Past and the Future Perfect: Shifting Tenses in Contemporary Photography. Her photographs can be found in private, corporate and public collections, such as the Centennial Gallery, the Art Gallery of Windsor, the Portland Museum, and the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography.
