KPMG Day at the University of Guelph

Executives from the accounting firm KPMG will be on campus on April 4 to network, recruit and share their career experiences with students studying accounting in the Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) program. Throughout the day, KPMG executives will join leadership and organizational management, and accounting classes to help expose students to careers at the firm. Select students from the accounting, and management economics and finance majors will join executives for lunch and explore IT and corporate finance careers at the professional service firm.

“KPMG Day provides students the opportunity to hear from and interact with professional accountants from one of Canada’s leading professional services firms,” says Fred Pries, associate chair, Accounting. “This exposure will help students move beyond the textbook to see how the ideas they learn in the classroom can be applied in their professional careers.”

As KPMG Day falls on the last week of classes, the firm will be running a “Stress Buster” drop-in session for all BComm students in Macdonald Hall. Students from all majors are encouraged to drop by MAC 107 for coffee, tea and cookies and a chance to network with recruiters from KPMG.

This year marks a special year for both KPMG and the College of Business and Economics: it is the 100th anniversary of the firm opening its office in Waterloo region and the 2016-2017 academic year marks the 10th anniversary for the College of Business and Economics. To celebrate both milestones, College faculty, members of the Accounting Society of Guelph and KPMG executives will be attending a reception in Macdonald Hall from 5 to 6 p.m.
