Congratulations to assistant professors Bruce McAdams and Joan Flaherty, and PhD Management candidate Josh LeBlanc, on winning a teaching and learning award this week at the Teaching and Learning Innovations Conference.

The award is recognition for their research, which focuses on course titles in higher education. The aim of the study was to investigate the increasingly common practice in higher education of substituting conventional, discipline-based course titles with creatively-phrased, “catchy” titles. Their study surveyed 800 North American undergraduates, of diverse backgrounds and disciplines, to determine (i) the extent to which course titles influence student interest and course selection, and (ii) the impact of course titles on student perception/expectations of the course.

Congratulations on earning this well-deserved recognition!
