In support of the Coldest Night of the Year campaign, the Lang Students’ Association has put together a team with the goal of raising $1,000 and beyond. The money raised will support Lakeside Hope House, a local charity organization that provides programs and front-line services for those in our community who need it the most.

As we head home to spend time with family over reading week, it is a good reminder that not everyone has a warm home to go back to,” said Sophia Steele, a brand ambassador for the Lang Students’ Association. “We’re excited to put together a team this year and help raise money to support our community.

The Coldest Night of the Year is a nation-wide fundraiser and family-friendly walk that raises money for charities serving hungry, homeless and hurting people in the community. In Guelph, donated funds will go directly to the Lakeside Hope House. The deadline to donate is this Saturday, February 22nd.

Students from the students’ association team will also be walking at the event on Saturday. Donations can be made on their team fundraising page.

Lakeside Hope House uses the power of community to overcome poverty by delivering front-line services and support that allow all Guelph residents living in poverty to maintain their dignity and choice. Their programs and services include a choice-based, bucks-based Food Market , HOPE Stylin’ clothing bureau and hair salon, a community EduKitchen, a Guelph Community Backpack Project a daily Café, a Christmas Hamper program and other poverty relief programs.

Their participation in the Coldest Night of the Year helps to raise awareness and funds to address the needs of individuals and families experiencing poverty within our community.
