Feb. 11: Simon Whitfield to receive honorary doctorate

Former Olympic athlete turned philanthropist and entrepreneur, Simon Whitfield, will receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Guelph at the College of Business and Economics’ convocation ceremony on February 17 at 4 p.m.

A decorated triathlete, Whitfield is widely known for his memorable gold medal win at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000, where he recovered from a cycling crash to win the event and set an Olympic record. He also went on to win silver at the Games in Beijing.

Since his retirement, Whitfield has worked to support young athletes and has also become an entrepreneur.
