Sept. 11: CME Unveils the Guelph Business Innovation Zone (uoG-BIZ)

Posted on Wednesday, September 11th, 2013

The College of Management and Economics recently unveiled a defined space for innovative teaching and learning. The Guelph Business Innovation Zone (uoG-BIZ), located in the former Veterinary Microbiology and Immunology (FVMI) building, has opened its doors and is ready for visitors.

Spanning two floors, uoG-BIZ features the following:

• The Zone. This transformational classroom will be home to CME’s nationally recognized, and ever-expanding, “Introduction to Business” course where BComm students will create new business ideas with a social purpose during the fall semester. In the winter and summer semesters, it will be used for a number of purposes, including a third-year course that prepares students to run entrepreneurship boot camps and act as mentors and learning facilitators.

• The Pitch. A presentation room where students and faculty meet with clients. Teams preparing for competitions will also use it as meeting and rehearsal space.

• The Hub. Students and Entrepreneurs-in-residence use this space to create new business ideas and develop business plans.

• CGA Career Centre. CME is developing customized career development support for BComm and MBA students.

• Student Clubs. This space offers rooms for CME student clubs associated with business and entrepreneurship.

• CBaSE. CBaSE will continue to connect students and faculty with community partners to work on applied business projects.

• Alumni Affairs and Development (AA&D). The AA&D team will have the opportunity to observe the most innovative aspects of CME.

Please drop by and see the new space! uoG-BIZ is located at 50 College Ave. West.
