Feb. 25: Dean Julia Christensen Hughes interviewed on academic integrity
In this story from CBC News, College of Business and Economics Dean Julia Christensen Hughes comments on the realities of cheating at Canadian universities. CBC conducted a survey of Canadian universities that showed more than 6,800 students were disciplined for academic misconduct. In the interview, Dean Christensen Hughes states that there is a huge gap between these numbers and the rate at which students admit to cheating, which according to a 2006 study is more than 50 per cent of undergraduate students and 35 per cent of graduate students.

Warren Jestin, noted economist, U of G alumnus and inaugural economist-in-residence in the Department of Economics and Finance, will receive an honorary doctorate at winter convocation on February 20. Jestin, who is an economist with Scotiabank, graduated in 1971 with an MA in economics. He will receive his honorary doctorate at the 4 p.m. ceremony.
