The Future of Knowledge Mobilization: Reflections of a Panel Discussion

On May 21, 2019 Dr. Sherri Cox, Executive Director of Research Innovation and Knowledge Mobilization, announced the latest recipients sharing a total of $420,000 in Gryphon’s LAAIR funding. Made possible by the Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance, Gryphon's LAAIR Grants are ideal for identifying target markets and testing concepts with end users.

As part of Canadian Innovation Week, The Research Innovation Office at the University of Guelph (UofG), funded by the Ontario government through the Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance, hosted the first annual Gryphon’s LAAIR Innovation Showcase and Pitch Competition.  The event, held on May 21, celebrated the amazing innovators who are putting knowledge into action in ways that have an impact on the Ontario economy and beyond.

The University of Guelph has a long tradition of innovative research with real-world applications. The results can be found on farms, in labs, and even at the ice cream counter. In the course of working with the 800 researchers who make the University of Guelph a hotbed of innovation, I’ve learned a lot about cutting edge science, technology and research that will have positive economic on both Canada and the world. I’ve also learned that universities and industry can benefit from learning from one another by creating innovation bridges that allow both groups to develop new skills and insights.
