In late August 2012, the new Philosophy Field Course undertook its inaugural expedition to Tofino, B.C. under the guidance of Professor Stefan Linquist. The mixed group of philosophy and biology students met with representatives from environmental groups, fishing and logging industries and First Nations. They inquired into these stakeholders' views on sustainability, conservation and economic development.
On Saturday, March 13 we held the 3rd annual Philosophy Graduate Students' Association Conference. This year's theme was “Bodies in the World.” Our keynote speaker was Professor Hasana Sharp (McGill), who gave a talk entitled “‘Men have nothing less in their power than their tongues': On spoken passions.” See the speakers and conferences page.

The University of Guelph has placed third for musical culture on Canadian campuses, according to results of a CBC poll announced today.
The nationwide, online poll asked alumni and students to vote for the school with the best campus music culture. Wilfrid Laurier University won the top spot, with the University of King’s College second. Guelph came third, ahead of Brandon University and Mount Allison University.
