The Tri-University Graduate History Association invites you to attend the first in a four part lecture series about American history on the silver screen. Tuesday, November 30th, University of Waterloo, PAS 1229, please come see three Tri-University historians with show clips and discuss:

A wide range of scientific methods are currently applied to get a better insight into art works and archaeological artefacts and to improve their conservation and restoration. However, to characterize such precious and sometimes unique artefacts, non-destructive and non-invasive methods are often preferred. Among them, chemical analysis using ion beams produced by accelerators, yielding the composition with excellent performance and total non-destructiveness, constitutes one of the best choices.

Creative Writing MFA grad Sandy Pool is short-listed in the Poetry category.
Creative Writing core faculty Judith Thompson is short-listed in the Drama category.
Creative Writing associated faculty member Karen Connelly, who will be teaching this winter's creative writing workshop, is short-listed in the Non-fiction category.

And -- associated faculty member Michael Winter is short-listed for the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize for his new novel, The Death of Donna Whalen.

Matthew Hayday appears in Queen Elizabeth in 3D a film documenting the 1953 Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and early Canadian experiments in recording the Coronation for Canadian viewers with 3D film technology. The documentary is now online. (Matt appears around the 22 minute mark!)
