Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits

Open to the Public: This nine week course is held on Monday evenings. Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 2 will teach you about the key grape varieties grown around the world, tasting techniques, the different styles of wine produced and the production of spirits and liqueurs. An exam will be held on week nine and successful candidates will receive a certification.

Registration deadline: Prud'homme Beer Certification - Level 1 Beer Enthusiast

Open to the Public: This introductory course in beer education is designed for participants interested in furthering their knowledge and interest in beer. The focus will be on brewing ingredients and processes, tasting concepts, pouring and serving concepts (including an introduction to draught systems) and food and beer pairings. Level 1 will be held on Sunday’s February 5th – 26th from 1 – 4 p.m at PJ's Restaurant - Macdonald Stewart Hall . Registration deadline is January 23, 2017.

The Visiting Speaker Series is an opportunity for invited researchers and professionals, external to the University of Guelph, to present their research topic(s) to faculty and students. Join us for a fun beer tasting afternoon! Focusing on the rich beer traditions entrenched in our nation’s history. The rise, fall and current resurgence of beer in Canada. John Molson & John Labatt were real guys, how Prohibition varied across the country and where we are headed with beer. The team at Escarpment Labs will join us to talk about the exciting work they do with brewing yeast, and how they are helping Ontario brewers tackle some new ground.
