Partnership provides equipment for transformed UofG food lab
Thanks to a new partnership with Whirlpool Canada, the Lang School’s Anita Stewart Alumni Food Laboratory will be outfitted with state-of-the-art appliances and food preparation equipment.
As part of the partnership, Whirlpool Canada will be the exclusive appliance sponsor for the food lab, donating a complete line of brand-new appliances and equipment, ranging from ovens and cooktops to blenders and toasters.
Retirement Announcement: Joan Flaherty
After 34 extraordinary years in academia, associate professor Joan Flaherty has announced her retirement at the end of this year. In her 23 years as a full-time faculty member in the School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management at the Lang School, Joan has taught in the undergraduate and graduate programs, most notably, Hospitality and Tourism Business Communications and Management.
$12,500 in scholarships to support student gender equity initiatives
Applications are now open for the annual HeForShe gender equity scholarships, which total $12,500 across three student-based scholarships. The scholarships are in support of the United Nations’ HeForShe initiative and are funded by the Angel Gabriel Foundation and the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics.
