DVM, DVSc, Diplomate ACVP, Pathologist, Avian & Fur-Bearing Species
Following graduation from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph, Marina spent 5 years in mixed animal practice in mid-western Ontario and then returned to the department of Pathology at the OVC for post-graduate studies. Subsequent to the completion of a DVSc in Anatomic Pathology, Marina accepted a position as a pathologist for avian and fur-bearing species with Veterinary Laboratory Services, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food, and during her time with VLS, she obtained board certification with the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. Following8 years in a technical and marketing position in allied industry, she returned to her position as pathologist, avian and fur-bearing species with the Animal Health Laboratory.
Marina is one of two full-time avian/fur-bearing species pathologists at the Guelph lab, providing veterinary diagnostic and consultative services for avian species including commercial and small urban flocks of poultry, domesticated waterfowl, game birds, pet and aviary birds, fur-bearing animals including mink, farmed rabbits and small mammal pets and exotic animals including reptiles. Marina actively supports informal and formal teaching activities primarily related to poultry pathology and diseases in the department of Pathobiology. She is on the executive of both the Ontario Association of Poultry Practitioners (OAPP) and the Canadian Association of Poultry Veterinarians (CAPV) and also serves as communications coordinator for the OAPP.
