How are healthy soils good for business? The team at Soils at Guelph asks Ontario farmers how investing in soil health practices is economically beneficial for the farm. Explore five engaging episodes highlighting soil health reminders about minimizing disturbance, year-round roots, building organic matter, keeping it covered, and diversifying your rotations.
How can KTT practitioners leverage new artificial intelligence (AI) tools to amplify their work? That was the question addressed by two experts at the Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance’s 2024 Knowledge Translation and Transfer (KTT) symposium on April 30.
The Alliance—a collaboration between the Government of Ontario and the University of Guelph— brought together nearly 200 attendees from government, academia, industry and the regional community to share and build skills for the future of KTT in agri-food, with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI).
The 2024 Rural Symposium took place on March 5, co-hosted by the U of G School of Environmental Design and Rural Development and the Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance.
This annual event provides an opportunity for U of G graduate students to showcase their rural research to policymakers, policy analysts and OMAFRA program staff. The event also facilitates valuable knowledge mobilization and network building.
A joint Soils at Guelph and Beef@Guelph field day in September 2023 focused on cover crop, crop rotation, water movement and grazing experiments at the Ontario Crops Research Centre and Ontario Beef Research Centre in Elora.
For more details about these Alliance-funded research projects, read the Farmtario article Expanding knowledge about cover cropping effects.
