A standardized method of collecting milk samples and associated data from dairy cows during their lactation period is known as Test-day records. Test-day data helps dairy farmers make informed decisions about feeding, breeding and overall herd health. By monitoring and analyzing the performance of cows on test-day, farmers can make genetic selections that contribute to the development of a more productive and resilient dairy herd over time.

Woodhouse, who is a Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP) Scholar and PhD candidate being supervised by Dr. David Kelton in OVC's Department of Population Medicine, is studying free fatty acids and frothing in milk. Woodhouse was invited to the International Dairy Federation's World Dairy Summit in October and won an award for her poster. 

The discussion entitled, Food Security is National Security was recorded earlier this month during the 2023 Arrell Food Summit: Pathways to Change. 

Hosted annually by the University of Guelph’s Arrell Food Institute, the Summit brings together agri-food leaders and experts to exchange ideas about topics crucial to improving global food systems.

The winners have been announced in the 2023 Research in Focus photo contest hosted by the University of Guelph’s Office of Research.

The Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance supported a special “Agri-Food in Focus” category, which received dozens of creative and high-quality submissions. Thank you to all participants who captured the moments that demonstrate U of G’s commitment to agri-food research and innovation.

For the ninth straight year, U of G has claimed second spot among Canadian comprehensive universities in the 2023 Research Infosource Inc. ranking of Canada’s Top 50 Research Universities,  

U of G also earned second spot in the amount of research income it attracts from the private sector, attracting more than $113.5 million from industry partners.

U of G placed 139th out of 1,403 institutions, climbing more than 200 places in this year’s QS World University Rankings: Sustainability rankings.

The rankings assess universities around the world by measuring each institution’s ability to tackle the world’s greatest environmental, social and governance challenges.
