Goodnight Desdemona, Good Morning Juliet
Goodnight Desdemona, Good Morning Juliet is an enduring Canadian comedy, and we are delighted to have helmed its première on the GLT stage. Challenging and sometimes subverting classical narrative structure and archetypes, author Ann-Marie MacDonald offers us a contemporary, humanist re-visioning of Shakespeare through Constance Leadbelly’s quest to discover the “fool”. Our greatest discovery in rehearsal was that even in the “nadir of her passage on this earth”, Constance cherishes the heartbreaking beauty of life that resonates with us all.
