History: Tri-University History Conference, Oct. 16
This year's Tri-U History Conference takes place in the Arts Lecture Building at the University of Waterloo. Our focus this year, "Cold War Encounters," coincides with the recent creation of the Cold War History Field at the Ph.D. level and spotlights an exciting diversity of a global scholarship.

History: David Bussell MA Thesis Defence Sept. 21

During the 2011-12 semesters, Dr Houle will be based at McGill University's Institue for Gender, Sexuality and Feminist Studies.
Philosophy: Dr. John Russon wins teaching award
I am delighted to be able to announce that John Russon has been awarded the UGFA Distinguished Professorial Award for the College of Arts for 2010 by the UGFA Teaching Awards Committee. Congratulations to John for this signal and much-deserved accolade for his outstanding teaching.

Dr Karen Houle is currently the Muriel Sparks Visiting Scholar, at McGill University's Institute for Gender, Sexuality and Feminist Studies.
Dr Stefan Linquist teaches the new Philosophy Field Course in Tofino, British Columbia (see course blog).
Dr Karen Houle awarded a CIHR grant to develop a teaching manual in Ecosystem Approaches to Health.
