Ecosystem Health: The Foundation for a Healthy Environment featuring Phil Beard and Eri Gouthro of Maitland Valley Conservation Authority.

Phil and Erin will be speaking on "Ecosystem Health: The Foundation for a Healthy Environment." They will be discussing the importance of ecosystem health in the context of the Maitland Valley watershed.

Pizza will be served, so join us in person if you are able!

Phil is a member of the Steering Committee for Healthy Lake Huron (HLH). HLH is a collaboration between Federal, Provincial, Conservation Authority and local agencies working together to improve the health of the watersheds that flow into Lake Huron as well as the nearshore of Lake Huron. HLH is co lead by OMAFRA and MECP. Phil is also a member of the Lake Huron Partnership Management Committee which is co led by Environment Canada and Climate Change and the US Environmental Protection Agency.

Erin has worked at MVCA since 2013 where she started as the aquatic and wetlands ecologist in the regulations program. In 2019 she moved into assessing Watershed Health full time. She studies the health of Maitland’s forests, rivers and streams developing and using measures and indicators which create a science foundation for the watershed’s monitoring and restoration programs.
