Posted on Thursday, May 19th, 2022

The annual ranking of the world's top scientists has been published by research.com. Faculty in the College of Biological Science are well represented in this year's list, with 25 scientists from our college named among the best in their respective fields. According to research.com, the list of leading scholars is designed to offer the academic community more visibility and exposure to the influential research contributions made by those at the forefront of their disciplines.

The University of Guelph placed among the top five Canadian universities in four ranked categories: ecology and evolution; plant science and agronomy; animal science and veterinary; and microbiology. Dr. Paul Hebert, Director of the Centre for Biodiversity Genomics and professor in the Department of Integrative Biology, was ranked second in Canada in the category of ecology and evolution. He is also included in the top 50 scientists globally.

"It is exciting to see CBS researchers recognized as leaders across seven different categories of scientists," said Dr. Maz Fallah, Dean of CBS. "It speaks to the breadth of expertise in our college, and the impact of our contributions to science. Congratulations to the CBS researchers who were recognized on the list of the Top 1000 Scientists in the World in 2022."
