CBS remembers Dr. Kenneth Gregory
The College of Biological Science is remembering Dr. Kenneth Gregory, a retired faculty member in the Department of Microbiology. He passed away on Dec. 30 in his 100th year.
Dr. Gregory joined the University of Guelph in 1954 and was later named chair of the Department of Microbiology. He was also president of the Canadian Society for Microbiology from 1979 to 1980. He retired from U of G in 1987.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Bacteriology from the University of British Columbia, then completed his master’s and PhD at the University of Wisconsin in Bacteriology.
Dr. Gregory and his wife, Marilyn, have contributed to undergraduate and graduate student learning at U of G for many years.
At the undergraduate level, the Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth F. Gregory Scholarship is presented every fall to students in a Molecular and Cellular Biology major based on significant volunteer participation, as well as a minimum cumulative average of 80%.
At the graduate level, the Gregory Graduate Scholarship sponsors an Ontario Graduate Scholarship recipient from within the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology.
