For the third year in a row, the University of Guelph has been ranked among the top 251-300 universities in the world in the biological sciences subject area, according to the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject. U of G also ranked within the top 200 in the anatomy and physiology subject area for the second year in a row, in part a reflection of the strength of the Human Anatomy Laboratory. Biological science, as well as anatomy and physiology, were ranked 10th in Canada.

Both rankings are part of the Life Sciences and Medicine subject area. U of G ranked 237th in that subject area this year.

Out of the 55 subjects, University of Guelph ranks globally in 15 subjects, including fourth for veterinary science and 14th for agriculture and forestry. Since 2021, U of G has nearly doubled the number of globally ranked subjects, from eight.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject, a comparative of colleges and universities compiled by the analytics firm Quacquarelli Symonds, analyzed more than 18,300 individual university programs across 55 academic disciplines at more than 1,700 universities in 100 locations around the world.

Rankings were assessed across five broader subject areas, including arts and humanities, engineering and technology, life sciences and medicine, natural sciences and social sciences and management.

In the QS World University Rankings, U of G was named one of the world’s top universities among more than 1,500 institutions ranked, taking 504th place.
