Study Abroad
Exchange
An exchange involves a formal agreement between the University of Guelph and an international university that allows us to exchange students each year. A Guelph student, can take courses on exchange at one of our partner universities and transfer credits back to their Guelph degree when they return.
"In the fall semester of my third year, I flew to Scotland to continue my studies at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow within Strathclyde’s Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department. The University of Guelph sent me there on a bi-lateral exchange, so I paid my regular tuition fees and the courses transferred back to my degree requirements here. It was incredible to be able to experience engineering studies in another country, travel on weekends, and grow my network internationally with the friends and colleagues I met while there. I joined the Strathclyde International Society and the Strathclyde Mountaineering Club and managed to hike, climb, and tour my way around beautiful landscapes and historical sites, while making memories that I will never forget."

Semester Abroad
Semester Abroad programs are formal University of Guelph semesters conducted overseas that are organized by the Centre for International Programs and a Guelph faculty member who acts as coordinator. The Semester Abroad Coordinator travels with the students overseas and arranges accommodation, field trips and courses. Students pay Guelph tuition and fees
"I participated in Study Abroad program in Krakow, Poland offered by the University of Guelph in my third year. The program was run through the university so I went abroad with fellow Guelph students and had a choice of 5 Guelph courses which I could count towards my Engineering electives. In 12 weeks, I visited 9 countries, explored southern and eastern Poland, and met new people from all over the world. I loved this option to study abroad as accommodation, courses, and many weekend excursions were handled by the University and the professor who accompanied us on the trip. It was an amazing experience which I would readily recommend to anyone, especially to other engineering students who would like a change-of-pace for a semester and would appreciate the extra support given by the Study Abroad program.
