February 16: Basket App Wins 5th Annual Nicol Pitch Competition

The Co-operators Centre for Business and Social Entrepreneurship (CBaSE), housed within the University of Guelph’s College of Management and Economics, hosted the 5th annual Nicol Pitch Competition on Wednesday, February 15th, 2012.

The competition is designed to promote and reward the entrepreneurial spirit at the University of Guelph by encouraging students to develop complete business plans for innovative products and services. 

February 14: CME Ph.D. Speaker Series TOMORROW Fei Song "How competitive are female professionals: A tale of identity conflict"

CME Ph.D. Speaker Series presents Fei Song from the Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University as she discusses, How competitive are female professionals: A tale of identity conflict. February 7: UofG Students Hopscotch Into Record Books

A fundraising initiative organized by University of Guelph students, including two students from CME, and three area youngsters has set a new world record.

Hopscotch 4 Hope, an event that raised more than $22,000 last October, is now in Guinness World Records as the longest hopscotch game.

February 6: Dean's Honour Scholarship Recipients Recognized at Luncheon

On February 2, 2012, CME's 2011/12 Dean's Honour Scholarship recipients were recognized at a luncheon. To receive this $1000 scholarship, students must meet the primary academic criteria of placement on the Deans' Honours List for two consecutive semesters, excluding semesters 7 and 8. The top 24 students are then awarded.

February 6: Prof. Lyons Researches Inter-Generational Differences in the Workplace

Department of Business Prof. Sean Lyons first became interested in inter-generational differences and their impact on workplace dynamics as a grad student. He realized that people are a product of the generation into which they were born and their career decisions are based on the unique opportunities available to them at that time and place in history.

February 2: GuelphU-INSPIRE coming to Guelph February 9, 2012

Some of Canada’s most successful professionals are coming to the University of Guelph to inspire students on Thursday, February 9th, 2012 in Rozanski Hall from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for GuelphU-INSPIRE. Guest speakers for GuelphU-INSPIRE include Alex Rechichi (President & Co-founder of Extreme Brands) and Rita DeMontis (award-winning Lifestyle & Food writer and editor).
