Prof. Sylvain Charlebois, Acting Dean of the College of Management and Economics, appeared on CTV’s Canada AM Tuesday. He discussed supply management in Canada and what the agricultural economy would look like in the post-supply management era.
As an award-winning researcher and teacher, Charlebois is an expert in food distribution and safety. The author of two books and numerous articles, he is now writing a book on global food safety systems. He belongs to the national expert advisory committee of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
Prof. Ken Smith, Associate Dean of Executive Programs, had an opinion/editorial published in Sunday's Toronto Star on the globalization of the food industry.

The Governing Board of the Institute of New Economic Thinking (INET) together with the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) have jointly awarded Department of Economics Prof. Ross McKitrick a $107,250 grant for his 3-year project “State-Contingent Environmental Policy”.
The CIGI-INET Program on New Economic Theory, Practice and Governance serves to advance research on issues of critical importance to economics and international governance.
Julia Christensen-Hughes, Dean of the College of Management and Economics, has received the 2012 gold award in the educator category from the Ontario Hostelry Institute (OHI). It was presented to her at a gala at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto Thursday night.

Organizational onboarding is the socialization process organizations use to help new hires adjust to new roles and jobs. For larger organizations onboarding is a deliberate process, a function of HR to acclimatize newcomers. Smaller organizations may not even consider the importance of this process.
“Successful onboarding can significantly impact productivity and turnover, and reduce costs for employers,” Gruman explained.
