Shipping to AHL update - September 30th 2025

Posted on Tuesday, September 30th, 2025

To our valued Clients,

With the ongoing strike at Canada Post this week, the volume of shipments via Purolator will increase. Here are our recommendations for shipping your specimens to AHL Guelph.

If possible, you can drop off your samples at AHL Guelph Specimen Reception – the vestibule is open for sample drop off from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

You can take your package to a local Purolator drop off location, if you are unable to reach and arrange pickup through their call centre:

· Ship your specimens to AHL Guelph between Monday and Wednesday when possible.

· Package your specimens with the expectation that the shipment may take several days (use extra freezer packs, absorbent materials, sturdy container/box). Courier warehouses are not temperature controlled.

· Purolator is no longer guaranteeing next day or Saturday delivery. AHL will not provide Saturday waybills except under very special circumstances.

· Make a copy of your waybill tracking number each time that you submit and track your package.

In addition, we have experienced some delays with shipments sent to the United States through FedEx. This was likely related to slowdowns in processing shipments through US customs and is outside of our control. We have individually contacted clients for submissions that have been impacted by delayed US-bound shipments. Thankfully we have noticed a decline in delayed shipments and we are hopeful that the backlog at US customs is resolved.

Thank you for your understanding, if you have any questions, please contact AHL Client Services - ahlinfo@uoguelph.ca or call 519-824-4120 ext. 54320 or 54611
