Handling fee for private cremation requests. Requests for private cremation must be clearly indicated on the submission form. Release of remains for private cremation is only available for small animals and the timing of release is at the discretion of the pathologist (typically once all testing is completed). Note that the AHL only releases remains for private cremation to licensed cremation service providers. Animalsinfected with high risk infectious agents are not released. Once the veterinary client has been notified that the remains are available for release, the onus is on the client to ensure timely pickup. Remains will be held for 1 month. Due to storage limitations, remains that are not claimedwill be forwarded for communal cremation.
