Visiting Artist Speaker Program presents Janet Werner

Free Lecture - Everyone Welcome! Janet Werner is a painter who se work has focused for many years on the ?ctional portrait. Her recent pain tings are based on ?gures drawn from popular culture -- fashion models, ? gurines, dolls and celebrities—icons and archetypes who represent ideals of innocence and beauty. Divorced from their original settings and recontext ualized in her work, the “portraits” become vehicles for an exploration o f the problematics of desire.
