Scottish Studies Foundation Digitisation Facility Launch
Date and Time
Robert Whitelaw Room, McLaughlin Library, 2nd Floor.
As part of the recent renovations undertaken in the McLaughlin Library, a digitisation facility has been established in Archival and Special Collections. This facility was generously funded by the Scottish Studies Foundation, which contributed $150,000 toward the cost of the facility's creation.
This facility has now been completed and will support the digitisation of materials held in the Scottish Archival Collection: unique historic manuscript and printed papers, books and records from medieval and modern Scotland that run to several thousands of items. This collection is now the largest archive of Scottish records outside of the United Kingdom. It is also rich in items which document the lives of Scots who emigrated to Canada. Once digitised, images of these items may be made openly available and accessible online to researchers and other users all across the world. The facility will also be used to digitise other collections held in Archival and Special Collections.
The Centre for Scottish Studies would, therefore, like to welcome you with an invitation to join us for the launch of the Scottish Studies Foundation Digitisation Facility at the McLaughlin Library. Lunch and tour will be provided. RSVP by Monday, 18 February 2019 at firstname.lastname@example.org
