“The performance reminded me that the human voice is a magical instrument.”
Chris Clark, Guelph Tribune

"Characterised by superlative skill in creating a very believable 'story', the presentation [of The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins] was woven with strong, bright ‘fibres’ -- singing, instrumental, choreography, pictorial aspects, lighting and sound effects, perfect synchronization, and key ‘players' who were gracious, confident, sincere and compelling.”
Margaret and Ivan Stinson, Guelph. April 6, 2014.

"The choice of pieces and the performance were absolutely stunning. It truly was a night to remember and many people said afterwards "best concert they had ever attended" - it was magnificent. The drama of the Armed Man only heightened the emotion.”
Alastair Summerlee, University of Guelph President 2003-2014. [April 5, 2014].

“I don’t think I’ve ever been to a more spellbinding concert. Every aspect of the evening showed such detailed preparation! I don't think any audience member ... will ever be quite the same.”
Eileen Baldwin, Founding Conductor, St. Mary’s Childrens’ Choir and Festival Chorus. [April 6, 2014].

“Marvellous choir sound”
Christof Roos, Chair, Mosbach International Chamber Choir Competition [January, 2012]

“... the sorcery of the University of Guelph Choirs. They worked magic with their voices. Marta McCarthy has put together a jewel that deserves wider recognition.”
Alan Pickersgill, Feb. 10, 2010 Guelph Tribune

“For over twenty years now Marta McCarthy has contributed to the choral life of Ontario and Canada not only as a superb choral trainer, conductor, academic and musician, but also as an invaluable board volunteer, administrator and passionate advocate for the choral arts.”
Robert Cooper CM, MMus DLitt, Former Producer Choral Concert, CBC Radio.

“The world renowned judges, Frieder Bernius and Marcus Creed, praised the choir for their passion and their unique tone quality.”
Music Times, July-August 2012

The University of Guelph resides on the land of the Between the Lakes Treaty No. 3, the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. This land is part of the Dish with One Spoon, a covenant between Indigenous nations to live peaceably on the territories of the Great Lakes region. We recognize that today this gathering place is home to many First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples and acknowledging them reminds us of our collective responsibility to the land where we learn, live and work.
