Janaína Nazzari Gomes

Janaína Nazzari Gomes brings to the School of Languages and Literatures a deep commitment to pedagogical innovation and community-engaged research. Fluent in French, Portuguese, and English, Janaína draws on her international and interdisciplinary experience to enrich the classroom and inspire collaboration across cultures and academic fields.
Originally from Brazil, she has worked extensively in both public education and university settings and has been an invited contributor to multiple cross-institutional projects on language and citizenship. She is thrilled to be joining the French and Integrated Studies sections at Guelph, where she looks forward to contributing to the University’s growing profile in French Studies, Applied Language Studies, and Intercultural Humanities.

Before joining the University of Guelph, Janaína taught French language and education courses at the University of Ottawa and participated in curriculum design and teacher training initiatives in Canada and Brazil.

Her doctoral research examined the experiences of French language learners in Ontario, exploring how their diverse linguistic repertoires shape classroom engagement and language acquisition.
In 2023, she co-edited a special issue of Francophonies d’Amérique on Latin America, migration, and plurilingualism, and continues to develop projects that explore equity, diversity, and inclusion in second language learning.
