The concept of One Health has been around for centuries, but the official term was adopted in 2004. Despite its devastation for human health, the COVID-19 pandemic had the advantage of raising awareness regarding the One Health approach globally. A “One Health High Level Expert Panel” (OHHLEP), launched in June 2021, proposed a definition for the One Health approach on Dec 1, 2021, at the same time as a special World Health Assembly session was taking place to initiate discussions about a potential pandemic treaty.

Embryologist Info Session Have you ever been curious about a career in Embryology? Join UofG alumna Lauren Lambert who will talk about how she got her start as a Junior Embryologist with Hannam Fertility Centre. Lauren's presentation will be followed by a question and answer period moderated by Julia Leary, Career Advisor. The 9th annual Human Kinetics 5K is taking place Sunday, Oct. 22 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the university Arboretum. Grab your running shoes, gather your friends and join us for a 5K run (or walk) through the Arboretum!  Registration is $15, with proceeds going toward United Way Guelph. An e-transfer must be made to hksa@uoguelph.ca immediately after filling out the registration form to confirm your spot.

Dr. Jerome Dempsey, professor emeritus in the Department of Population Health Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and director of the John Rankin Laboratory of Pulmonary Medicine, will be presenting several lectures as part of the Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences' Seminar Speaker Series.  Lectures will be held Oct. 19, 20, 23-25 between 10:20 a.m. and 12 p.m. and will be delivered both in-person and over zoom.
