The overarching goal of my research is to provide empirical evidence guiding the effective and positive management of occupational health and performance in organizations. My research involves the disciplines of Occupational Health Psychology and Positive Organizational Psychology. My early interest on the study of work stress was focused on the interaction between coping styles and the interactive effects of gender. My current research deals with the positive nature of our psychological beings (e.g., engagement, positive spillover, savoring) and its relationship with our health and performance.

WORK STRESS AND EUSTRESS. We are studying the antecedents and outcomes of challenge-hindrance appraisal in collaboration with various labs around the world: Dr. Peiro and Dr. Rodriguez (IDOCAL, Universitat de Valencia, Spain), Dr. Neves (Universidade Nova de Lisboa) and Dr. Eisenberger (University of Houston, USA).

JOBS IN POSITIVE: LOOKING AT THE BRIGHT SIDE OF WORK. A program of research developed with researchers from Germany (Dr. Michel, Dr. Hoppe, Dr. Steide) and Ireland (Dr. Oshea) on experiential sampling studies that explore the relationships between work and non-work domains.

WORK-LIFE RELATIONSHIPS. Founded by SSHRC (Insight Development Grant) this project aims to examine using diary and multilevel methods, the relations between work life and personal life over time in order to understand how change and time shape the dynamic interplay among the roles in our daily lives (worker, caregiver, friend, etc.).

GENDER AND SEXUAL DIVERSITY IN THE WORKPLACE. This program of research studies issues such as gender inequality in the workplace and workplace experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals.

RESPECTFUL WORKPLACES. This line of research aims to understand respectful workplaces by developing conceptual, theoretical and methodological contributions such as reflective measures of victimization, theoretical models of workplace civility and meta-analytic research of incivility.
