The Gryphon Soccer Complex has some interesting sustainability facts that were incorporated during the construction of this complex. This complex has five (5) playing areas.  Come and learn about the sustainability efforts during construction, and interesting information about synthetic turf versus natural grass fields. Being respectful of our agricultural and turf grass history we will explain the need and decisions behind the synthetic turf direction and our desire to meet the environmental impacts of the area and student expectations. The soccer complex was designed to provide safe, quality playing surfaces but was also designed with input from the Arboretum, Grand River Conservation Authority and our community to be the finest soccer specific facility in Ontario. Little things like building berms for viewing spaces and keeping the soil on site versus trucking it away and capturing rain water from the synthetic fields to irrigate our grass field will be discussed as well as other secrets of the synthetic turf world.
