As Louis Riel Day lands on a Saturday, we ask you to join us in front of the University Centre at 10:00 am the day before for short remarks and the raising of the Métis flag in recognition of Louis Riel Day. Although Louis Riel Day marks the execution of Louis Riel, commemorating one of the great tragedies in Canadian history, it is also a day to celebrate Métis culture, recognize the many contributions of the Métis to Canada, and to highlight the struggles that many Métis continue to face.
Following the flag raising, we welcome students, staff, faculty and community to join us at the Aboriginal Resource Centre for coffee, tea and snacks from 10:30-11:30 am.
