On Feb. 6, Gryphon Athletics welcomes two-time Stanley Cup Champion and mental health advocate Daniel Carcillo who will present "Uncharted A Mental Health Awareness Speaking Tour." 

The event is being run in partnership with Student Wellness, Wellness at Work and is supported by the U-of-G Mental Health and Well-being Fund. There is no registration required for this event and tickets are FREE. 

About this Event:

Telling his own, full story on how mental illness has affected his life along his path to becoming a mental health advocate after playing in the NHL for many years, and winning two Stanley cups with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Explaining how brain injuries that could be sustained during sport activities can create long term effects on mental health, along with how it has impacted him personally.

Educating the listeners on different ways they can help their own state of mental well-being for free/at very little cost, as well as making them aware of the resources available to them.

About Daniel Carcillo:

Played 429 Games in the NHL and has won 2 Stanley Cups.

Retired after winning the Stanley Cup in 2015 with the Chicago Blackhawks due to mental health issues in combination with post concussion syndrome.

Since his retirement in 2015, he has become a mental health advocate and speaks openly about his struggles, along with how he overcame them.

He also established his own non-profit organization, the 'Chapter 5 Foundation', which is dedicated to helping players who are struggling with post-concussion syndrome, anxiety, or depression.
