Details

The University of Guelph Honey Bee Research Centre is a leader in apiculture, research and education. Honey bees play a key role in agricultural productivity and ecosystem sustainability by providing pollination services to crops and wild plants. Our mandate is to help honey bees continue this vital work.

Tour Outline: 

  • Front garden gathering where you will meet the team. 
  • Short interactive presentation on honey bee biology. 
  • Instructions on how to behave around stinging insects. 
  • Outside demonstration in the beeyard on beekeeping safety. 
  • Beehive components are brought to participants in the apiary for an up-close view.
  • Participants form a line in the apiary and beehive components are brought to them for an up-close view. Everyone is given the option of tasting honey directly from the honeycomb!

At the end of the tour, participants may purchase honey, hive products and educational materials (Also available at shophbrc.com for shopping before, or after, the tour!)

Register through Ticket Stripe! Registration opens on May 13th. Cost of tickets are covered by Wellness@Work.
