Explore the north side of the College Arboretum lands and discover the horticultural facilities, conservation work and tree health practices that support the Arboretum’s living collections.
Join the University of Guelph Arboretum Manager of Horticulture for a behind-the-scenes look at the work that goes into caring for a living collection and managing a landscape dedicated to conservation, research and education.
This guided tour will explore the north side of College ave arboretum lands, with stops at the Arboretum’s horticulture facilities and the Henry Kock Propagation Centre at the RJ Hilton Centre. We’ll then look at the Elm Recovery Project and the Arboretum’s work to conserve and propagate important elm genetics. As we explore the Beech and Oak Family Collection, we’ll talk about the threats facing our beech trees and our current approaches to managing Beech Leaf Disease in valuable trees.
