Collection Protocol
Immediately after draw, inoculate blood into blood culture medium containing SPS anticoagulant. Invert bottle a few times. Do NOT refrigerate. EDTA, citrate, and heparin are toxic to microorganisms and blood submitted in these tubes is not acceptable for blood culture.

Submission of 2 consecutive draws is included in the price of this test. Includes aerobic and anaerobic culture and re-culture after 5 d if no growth initially. Minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) susceptibility testing for only ONE clinical significant aerobic pathogen is included. Additional susceptibilities for aerobes and ALL anaerobes must be requested and extra charge per bacterial isolate will apply.
