Homecoming Reception 2013

This year, our annual Homecoming Reception will be on 21st September in the lobby of Rozanski Hall from 5pm-7pm.

Speaker Series: Dr. Max Pensky, Binghamton University

The first Speaker Series of 2013-2014 will feature Dr. Max Pensky from Binghamton University, co-sponsored by the Guelph Political Philosophy Conference. Dr. Pensky's discussion is titled "Is Anyone Accountable? Questioning Democratic Accountability in Global Governance Institutions". Abstract: I explore how we might think about, and beyond, the question of democratic accountability for global governance institutions. Conference: "Politics at the Limits of Civil Society"

The Philosophy Graduate Students Association is organizing an international political philosophy conference at the University of Guelph from September 20–22, 2013 titled Politics at the Limits of Civil Society. Keynote addresses will be given by Dr. Max Pensky (Binghamton University), Dr. Chiara Bottici (New School for Social Research), and University of Guelph's own Dr. Monique Deveaux.

Workshop on Digital Identity

ALL are welcome to the following workshop: September 19th 2: 30-3:30 MACK 020 Serge Desmarais, AVP (Academic), will hold a workshopas part of the SoLaL Research Methods class about his research into digitalidentity and social media. He is particularly interested in the difficult n egotiation of personal versus professional identity in the age of social net working.
