This course is an introduction to the historical development of science and technology in a global context, from the ancient period to the present. Our focus will be on the trajectories and patterns in which scientific and technological knowledge, objects, and practices have circulated between cultures throughout history and how the development of science and technology is contingent upon time and place. We will examine science and technology in the Islamic world, in Europe, in China, and India.
