CBSSC's An Afternoon in CBS Research

Interested in sharing your research experience? CBSSC is looking for about 20 students to present their posters throughout the afternoon, and two or three students to present their pathways into research in the evening presentation section. Schedule:    1 to 5 p.m.: Student poster presentations 5 to 5:30 p.m.: Free pizza dinner 5:30 to 7 p.m.: “How to get into CBS research” presentations

HHNS Seminar Speaker Series: Following white rabbits and black mice: Novel enzymes, bioactive lipids, and their pathways through the looking glass

Dr. Robin Duncan is the Associate Professor of the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences in the Faculty of Health at the University of Waterloo and director of the Lipid Enzyme Discovery Lab. Her research program focuses on characterizing novel enzymes in lipid metabolism. With the support of NSERC and the Barth Syndrome Foundation, her lab has discovered a role for the enzyme PLAAT1, and its downstream bioactive endocannabinoid signaling products, in cardiolipin metabolism.

CBS Community Seminar Series: Creating Ethical Space for First Nations-led Genetic, Epigenetic, and Other Biological Health Research

The Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences is pleased to host Dr. Billie-Jo Hardy from the University of Toronto and Dr. Amy Bombay from Carleton University. They will be speaking about their experiences developing a biological health research training program with First Nations health professionals and researchers.  Both researchers will present virtually, but there will be an in-person viewing option, with refreshments available.
